Getting started
- Use a phone with Android 11 or newer, a windshield mount and a car charger (a 2.4 A / 18 W or better charger keeps up with recording).
- Open Roadlie and allow camera, microphone, location and notifications. Allowing "all the time" location lets it keep the speed overlay while you use other apps.
- Turn on auto-start in Settings so recording begins when the phone gets power.
Common problems
Recording stops after a while
Some phone makers stop background apps aggressively. In Android settings, set Roadlie's battery usage to Unrestricted and, on Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and Samsung, also allow it to auto-start and lock it in the recent-apps screen.
The phone gets hot
Take the phone out of its case, keep it out of direct sun (behind the mirror is ideal), point an air vent at it if you can, and lower the resolution in Settings. Roadlie reduces the load and pauses if the phone gets too hot.
Only the road camera records
Recording two cameras at once depends on the phone's hardware. If your phone doesn't support it, Roadlie records the road camera only.
Clips aren't uploading
Check that cloud backup is on, and your network setting — by default clips upload on Wi-Fi only, while thumbnails and details upload on any network. Uploads resume where they left off after a connection drop.
Your clips and data
- Your private viewer link is in the app under Settings → Cloud backup. Bookmark it on your computer.
- If someone else got your link, replace it in the app; the old one stops working at once.
- To delete everything, see Delete my data.
